Central Visayas Business Conference includes IDC Chairman

The exceptional online event with the participation of multiple Chambers of Commerce from Europe and Cebu Chamber, the Central Visayas Business Conference or in short, CVBC 2021, was held on September 30th, 2021, and featured, among others, also the Chairman of Italpinas Development Corporation, Architect Romolo Nati. 

With speakers like Cebu Chamber President Felix Taguiam, it’s Vice President Jay Yuvallos, Acting Cebu Mayor Michael Rama, European Union Delegation Head of Trade and Commerce, Maurizio Cellini, JLL’s Country Head, Christophe Vicic, and Cebu-s food & beverage entrepreneur, Kate Anzani, it was surely a timely topic to discuss investing and locating businesses in the provinces. Architect Nati underlined his belief that the provinces are today an incredible opportunity for entrepreneurs from the Philippines and abroad in many sectors. 

His PSE-listed company has certainly given a great example for this bet to invest in the province with their sustainable and green developments in Cagayan de Oro and in Sto Tomas, Batangas where passive green design meets the comfort of a condo lifestyle surrounded by nature and open spaces. The CVBC 2021 was organized by Global link and Olacon Events in partnership with Cebu Chamber, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, the French Chamber, the Spanish Chamber, the German Chamber, and Advantage Austria and co-presented by FedEx and Opascor. 

Hosted by Lorens Ziller, Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, this very well attended event gave important insights on local business in Central Visayas and especially Cebu, analyzing trends and finding potential opportunities for local and foreign stakeholders. While Cebu Chamber president Felix Taguiam was advocating for increased cooperation to enhance business, Jay Yuvallos mentioned clear projects where interested parties from all Chambers can foster relationships and pursue business opportunities. 

He also chairs the CIDCC which stands for “Cebu Investment Development Concierge Center and is a “one-stop trade and investment center for businesses and investors interested to locate and invest in the City and Province of Cebu and is a flagship Public-Private Partnership. While Acting Mayor Michael Rama was focused on his COVID preventive actions and vaccination efforts of the city, Kate Dychangco Anzani, a very well-known hospitality entrepreneur and TV host shared her experience with the pandemic and how her businesses managed to survive during this time. 

All parties agreed that tourism rebound is the key to re-start the local economy and this was further highlighted by the closing remarks of former Bloomberg TV host and lawyer, Attorney Anthony Abad, who concluded how to export capacity building and the GSP+ zero-tariff opportunity to export Filipino products to Europe must be further exploited for the benefit of local communities.
